What kind of blogger are you?

Okay, so when you read a blog do you....

a) read your google reader feed

b) read the post and the comments and maybe leave a comment

c) read the post and the comments and then go back to read additional comments/ responses to comments

I'm just curious because I read the blog post and whatever comments are there when I comment, but then I see some people respond to their readers comments, so I am thinking- am I supposed to go back and check for their response? I don't respond to comments, in case you are wondering, well sometimes I do but for your convenience I do it in an e-mail. Unless it is something I think needs to be general known, like today I commented on my own thing that no, I don't really think HP will bubble into your brain and kill you. That kind of thing. Anyway, carry on, just curious.

I'm a combo of all three. Mostly I just use reader, occasionally popping out to comment. And if I'm really interested, I keep checking in to respond to additional comments. But that's rare.

I'm a combo of all three too, all depending on how interested I am in the topic. But my trick is that on the rare occasion that I'm super interested or if I ask a question in comments that might get answered, I check that little box at the bottom to have follow-up comments emailed to me. Then I don't have to keep remembering to come back. In my opinion, not being able to easily respond to comments is one of the major deficiencies of Blogger. I'm always torn between responding with a comment of my own or just emailing someone, assuming I have their email address.

Mostly just a google reader, except when people MAKE me comment...and then I have to take all that extra time to click into their actual blog. Just kidding. If it's something I want to comment on I do, but I've tried to minimize my commenting for the sake of my kids (who are usually hanging on the back of the chair waiting for me to be done). If I comment, then I'll read the other comments. I seem to comment on your blog more than anybody else...you must be pretty awesome! Lauree

Okay, the end of that last comment didn't make sense. I meant that I comment more on your blog than on other's blogs I read. Hope that makes sense.

Same as Lauree---If I feel so inclined to take the time to click on it (and go out of google reader) then you better believe I am leaving a comment.

I think the whole blog commenting thing is pretty funny. Have you noticed that when you leave a comment on someone's blog they feel kind of like they need to leave one on your blog in return. Is it weird that I can tell when someone leaves a comment b/c I left one on their blog and they feel they need to return the "favor". Or (my favorite) is when you quit leaving comments on people's blogs (no one in particular, but like Lauree I'm on the run and it takes enough time to just read the post, so commenting gets put on the back burner) like I was saying, you quit commenting on people's blogs then you notice they stop commenting on yours...but you know they are reading it because you have the tracker and can tell. That's what I think is funny.

Its like a relationship...and when you stop giving them lovin they stop too.

I totally love and appreciate comments but just can't comment on all of the blogs that I read in return.

Okay, this was long enough to be a post. Thought I would give you something extra to read.

And Kristi--please don't feel obligated to leave a comment after this...I was simply inclined to leave one on yours and had the time since I just put Chase down. you get me...right??

Geez, who's the weirdo that left the essay on your comments page? Get rid of her! ;)

I'm like Kayla - rarely coming back to read comments.

But, I do try and comment as much as possible, even though I read all my blogs through google reader.

I strive to be like Janssen, my model of perfection.

I like commenting whenever I have something to say. It makes blogs more interactive and fun.

I only come back and check comments sections after the fact in rare situations, such as a really interesting/touchy subject, or a post that inspires good comments.

Commenting, as Holly mentioned, has become something that's more like a thank you note. It doesn't need a response - it IS the response. But it never hurts to respond by way of email or comment on the other person's blog, especially if a question was asked.

On Sunday, Gwen told me a secret. She said that sometimes when she does something naughty, she tells you and Blaine that it was Swiper and Bootsy. I was thinking, "Whoa, save your confessions for the bishop!"

Nice post for generating comments!

I'm a google reader too. And a VERY lazy one at that. I'm very bad at leaving comments but on random days try and leave one one one every blog I read, just to let them know I'm still there.

Unless it's something like this. Sheesh, got me working hard for this friendship don't ya?

I forgot the numbers now but basically I don't use a reader at all, just go out and visit the blogs (of course I really only read two--this one and my family's--sorry I know everyone out there has one and I should probably read yours but I just don't take the time (good thing most of you won't come back and ever see this comment...)). I always read all the comments and I usually always come back and check for new ones for a week or so, especially with my family's blog. On that blog I comment on almost every post, on this blog I rarely comment unless there's something I want to say to everyone but I'll usually tell Kris what I thought in person cuz I think her blog's awesome (for the record :) So yeah, I'm a computer engineer and it sounds like I'm the least sophisticated of the bunch as far as the technology goes. Oh well...

Just to shake things up - I think I'll comment on Blaine's comment!! I think I can safely say that I am the least sophisticated of the bunch as far as the technology goes. I'm so unsophisiticated that I didn't even fully understand the question posed in Kristi's blog!! What the heck? (Don't tell Gwen that grandma just said that:)
