Imitiation is the highest form of flattery

In the spirit of Janssen's "tell me what to read" blog posts, I think you should tell me what nutty froo froo thing I should do for the month of February....should I ditch teflon as Janssen suggested? Buy only organic produce? Buy a prius? No fast food? Eliminating food dyes? Eight glasses of water? Any simple ideas of little things I can do would be appreciated. My goal is to stave off disease, make our lives healthier, reduce waste, that sort of thing. So, um, don't leave me with chirping crickets here!

cast iron is non stick. Oven safe and broiler safe. Not dishwasher safe though.

How about no food dyes?

Kefir--a cultured milk product somewhat similar to yogurt. I'll even mail you some grains to get started.

Cook at home all month!

Be easy on yourself - drink lots of water. (Do you have a water filter?) Cast iron is great. Season it well first and never use soap on it. It won't kill you. My grandmother grew up with it and continued using it all her life and lived to age 99. (She also used aluminum pans - go figure!) Good for you for giving up aluminum based deodarant (sp).

Use all natural lotions, soaps and such. Everything you rub into your skin is readily absorbed and there's tons of chemicals in these things!

I think the goal should be that we finally get together. That's all.

I once saw a show where some model said she never ate anything that was ever heated. So that eliminates pretty much everything except raw fruits and vegetables? I'm not suggesting you take this on for February, but really, couldn't we all be models if we followed that rule?!?

I don't know... I microwave unsafe plastics, I wear aluminum deoderant, I eat junk with preservatives and what-not... I figure we could be afraid of everything, or just enjoy life and if it kills us it was our time to go anyway... I do recycle though, big nut about that...
