Runaway Social Sausage!

Okay folks we have the opportunity of a lifetime here. Apparently Blaine's work is having a 5k tomorrow that you have to be wearing your Halloween costume to participate in....and am I the only one who thinks it would rock the casbah to have the "social sausage" running through the streets of Austin? Blaine joked about it this morning but I told him if I got a petition with twenty five signatures requesting the sausages appearance that he would have to do it. At first I was going to give you all his work e-mail address so we could innundate his e-mail with friendly requests but then I thought that one through and decided it's a no go. So please please, leave a comment requesting (demanding) that he participate, for the good of the blog. He checks the blog daily and surely he would not want to disappoint all of my avid readers (*crickets chirping*).

Thanks!

Come on Blaine! I think it would be quite cool to have the "social sausage" running through the streets. Kristi could take lots of pictures and we would all be so proud of you!!!!

I add my name to the list (and I have no social backlash since I don't actually know you)

Oh yes, that'd be cool. But only if it's a SOCIAL sausage. (Seriously, was there ever a conclusion on the "social" thing?) I'm on pins and needles over here...

Normally I am a lurker, but I find I must come out of the closet on this one -- go for it Blaine. In the immortal words of Sid the Sloth, "You're with us now, dignity has nothing to do with it!".

Closing the lurk-door....

Wow, what a turnout. Thanks, Kris. A lot.

Here's the thing. I would love to appease y'all. I would. It would be awesome if I tried to recreate the thing and ran that race. It would. But here's the thing, and Kristi knows this. People at work don't know the me that many of you know. The me that would have to be inside that costume. If we were having a Kristi's blog party or even a Granger party or Oakcrest party where y'all would be the ones there shouting "Blaine Blaine Blaine" I could maybe see doing it. But it's a work party and none of you are going to be there. And the people that are don't know that Blaine. They wouldn't get it.
In other words it wouldn't be as funny as you think. The pictures? Yeah, the pictures would be great, no doubt. But running the streets of Austin then sitting at my desk all day and trying to get any thing done without feeling self-conscious? I can't even force myself to talk full volume when Kris calls me during the day for self consciousness that my personal call is spilling over the cubicle wall into the cold, business world.

So my answer: I appreciate the attention. I love you all and am moved by your encouragement. If it means that much to you I could recreate the costume for a picture and pretend to be running the race. But for my work 5K, I gotta tell ya--don't think it's going to happen. Sorry to disappoint but thanks for a fun post anyway!

(P.S. I don't even have the green sweats anymore anyway. And what would the costume be without that?)

Oh, and Gretchen and anyone else wondering. No idea what the "social" was all about. I don't know if my mom reads this blog but maybe she remembers? It is definitely something she was behind when in a mood much like y'all are in as you write your comments here.

Oh, and Janssen, I'm counting on you to back me up that it's not that I'm unwilling to sacrifice some dignity for a good cause. I say my singing and dancing around for primary singing time count for my throw-all-my-dignity-out-the-window-for-a-good-cause experience for the year. Eh?

Party pooper.

He does too have some green sweats.

Maybe next year guys. We were a good ten signatures short anyways. Sigh.

Dang, does this mean I'm too late?

Dang, am I too late? At least you didn't have 24 comments and I would have been the 25th. I would love to hear that Blaine ran in the 5k as a social sausage.
