Attempt # 3 at potty training Gwen. This attempt included stripping her down and having her watch movies while sitting on the potty. Well she went once. Then when I tried to get her to leave the potty to go do anything else she pleaded (demanded ) a diaper. She tells me she doesn't want to be potty trained.
So, what do you do? I am trying to not push it and wait until she is ready, etc. but I am going to have to start buying depends because she is growing out of the biggest size of diapers.
Stay tuned for attempt #4 of potty training, in a month or so. Are there professional potty trainers for hire ?

Professional potty trainers do exist, but that's all I know.
Good luck! I remember feeling almost like I had waited too long with Claire to potty train because she was old enough to tell me that she wasn't interested. Our "potty train in a 4th of July weekend" experience was tolerable only because we lived in an apartment and it wasn't MY carpet!
I'm SO scared to potty train Scott someday...
We were really lucky with Rebekah because she wanted to be a "big girl" like her friends and not wear diapers any more like her little brother.
However, one thing that worked for us when she started having accidents was skittles. We got a big jar of skittles and put it on the counter out of reach where she could see it, and then every time she went potty on the toilet she got a skittle (two skittles if she went poopy). I don't know how well it will work with Gwen, but good luck.
I know some people who are 33 and not potty-trained. Granted, they are pregnant and the "accident" is invariably preceeded by a sudden cough or sneeze ...
But for reals, I have full confidence in Gwenie. She'll get there!
Don't give up, I still feel like i am fighting with sydney, she still will leave a little squirt in her panties and then go on the potty- i am wondering if it is ever going to end. Rochelle's little boy is still not trained either and he is sydney's age (3 1/2 yrs) i am pretty sure he is the biggest 3 yr old on the planet at almost 50 lbs so hang in there, she will just decide to do it one day- i got sick of people saying " well she is so smart..." as if that has anything to do with it, well good luck, just don't stress about it- even though i did and still do :)
I figure if you could train your dogs, you can train Gwen. She'll want to one day, which is probably more than you can say for Swiper and Boots :)
engineman,
ONE SKITTLE?? (or TWO for a POOP??) Kristi didn't mention what bribes we have tried but right now we are up to offering Gwen a fruit snack, a juice box, a pack of smarties, and to get to watch an episode of Dora, and this is all for any kind of #1, #2, valiant effort, whatever. How you did it a Skittle at a time is truly amazing (and, as you say, "really lucky"!) Maybe we'll add Skittles to Gwen's prize package and see if it helps...
You have probably tried this, but are there Dora panties? Dora at least wears "big girl" panties, right? I am sitting here giggling at all the techniques we used for Blaine. I remember one technique was to talk about people the child adored and discuss how they like to go potty. It must have been around Christmas time when we tried (I don't think Blaine was successful first time either) and I remember talking about how much Santa loved to go toto!
