Hairy situation

So Ralphie, being the good friend that she is, suggested that it was about time that I let a professional cut my hair. She thinks, for some odd reason, that if a person cuts their own hair that it will not be even .....or something. I tried to reason with her and tell her that I get lots of compliments on my hair when I cut it myself. As I was telling her this the idea that people are being falsely complimentary did cross my mind, but people don't tell you they like your hair when they really don't...do they? Anyway. It's not like she came volunteering unsolicited advice. She came over one day when I was in the depths of dispair and whining about how whenever I look in the mirror I cry because the only word that comes to mind is "atrocious". So anyway, the unanimous solution has been that I need professional help.

So tonight at eight o' clock I am getting my professional help. My OBGYN has given the okay to dye my hair and Blaine has backed it up with his financial support. So the world is my oyester. As many of you may know I lack a sense of style. So please, help. What color, what cut? Send pictures and ideas. I am in distress. I am paying the good money so I would like to come away looking nice. All of you who have been holding back on comments or reading from google reader, this is a desperate plea.....what should I do?

Personally I think the ideal would be long locks. But I guess there is not much the hair person can help me with there, but I suppose I could just get a trim. And I also think my hair looks better darker than lighter. What do you think about bangs (excuse me, I guess bangs are now called "fringe" ).

I can't wait for your input.

We need a current picture before we can help!

What about like a dark brownish-reddish? That's kind of my default when I want to dye my hair and it's never steered me wrong.

You need to spend some time at Hair Thursday:

http://www.hairthursday.com/category/medium

I linked to the medium hair length category, but there are others (by color, texture, and length). I've seen several styles I think might look great on you! If you want, I'll email you the ones that caught my eye!

Here's my two sense. If you don't already have bangs, I wouldn't recommend starting now. They are cute when you have time to do your hair, but not so much if you don't. You won't have time to grow them out before you have your baby and who wants greasy bangs in all the new baby pictures?

Oops, my two cents. Shows you how much that was worth. . .

I think you should go with some highlights. I love highlights and I think it really brightens up your facial features. I probably wouldn't go darker until closer to Fall/Winter, at least not until Halloween. Its only just getting to Sept. so you would still totally be fine with getting them clear into fall. If you follow any of that seasonal hair change mumbo jumbo ;)

I too am trying to grow out my hair and it seems like it is taking FOREVER! If you're growing it out then I agree with you, just stick to the trim. I know you want dramatic when you pay the big bucks, but in a couple of weeks you might think, "dangit, should've left it long" or at least that's what I always do.

I would suggest a blend of colors. You already have brown, so I would suggest maybe a darker blonde and a honey or caramel.

At any rate, this is just my opinion, but since you asked I couldn't pass it up. Good luck tonight!! Can't wait to see pics!

I vote for longer too. And I actually like bangs because even if you pull your hair back in a ponytail, you still look put together. And you don't even have to curl them these days. Of course, your hair is curlyish and mine is straight, so maybe it's a bit different.

I think the answer is staring us in the face: Kristi, you need to bring back that beautiful style you rocked in grade-school. What do I have to do to convince you? How much would I have to pay?

TK obviously has not seen me recently, that is my current picture...just kidding, but I feel like it with the humidity. Only my mother knows the secret to getting hair to look that good! Thanks Mom.

Todd, just invite me to a Halloween party and you got it!

Before you run out and take my advice visualize my lovely locks, HA! Anyway, I think that if you are paying the big bucks... it's o.k. to ask the professional. They are trained to know what will look good with whatever face shape and coloring. Highlights are fun, but they have to be retouched every 6 or so weeks and that can be pricey. Hence, it's back to CVS for my own cheap hair color every six weeks instead... Hey, have you thought about going blonde? :) I think they really do have more fun. Can't wait to see your new do!

wow- I think you should go back to the hairdo at the top of the page- all i can say is SEXY! but since you would like something new I think a cute little A line would be good with bangs- ( fringe is a new word to me, I am out of style too I guess) I just cut me some bangs, well I started out cutting them myself and ended up paying $25 for someone to fix them- yes now I love my bangs and yes- i agree darker would look good on you- I love getting my hair done! I was a brunette a few months ago- but I am blonde again. Hey I say- if you're gonna cut it- cut it all off, I want to chop mine again but Sydney said she would cry cuz boys have short hair, so cut it before your girl knows any better!

Nice hair - I think I looked like that at one time too. :) I have to agree with Sarah...highlights are pricy. Hair may seem like it takes for ever to grow out, but those darn roots appear in no time at all. So unless you want to start going in every 6-8 weeks, I would advoid highlights - that's my practical side speaking...although they would look great! You're so cute - whatever you decide will be great! We're excited to see you this weekend! Drive Safe! :)

I agree. Highlights take a lot of upkeep, so it's like committing yourself to pay for them at least every other month. And I hate my bangs, but I think you look cute with them. Can't wait to see the results. :)

I have to agree with the previous few comments; highlights are hard to keep up, and can cost lots of money over time. So go with something close to your hair color, but more exotic, or exciting, or whatever you're searching for.

Also, if you hair does go curlyish, ask the hair stylist what would work for with curly hair, and what doesn't take very long to do every day and still look good (always good with kids).

Unless you already went to get it cut, because I'm late commenting because I'm slow like that (my reader was broken), in which case whatever you got you should get. Yeah.

I think you should do something that makes you look like the first picture again. That's the Kristy that I remember:)
